It is pretty well known among Block B fans, that Block B’s leader Zico participates as an “underground” K-rapper, and has garnered quite a lot of popularity due to his talent and age. Not only that, Zico has also featured in songs for popular Korean rappers such as Verbal Jint and Cho Pd.
Due to his features, Zico had the honor of being nominated for “Featuring of the Year” for the 2011 Hip Hop Playa Awards. Hip Hop Playa is the communication network for the Korean rap industry, making this quite the feat for Zico. Zico himself was surprised and tweeted, “I don’t feel that I am worthy to be nominated for the Hip Hop Playa Awards. To stand shoulder to shoulder with such people, I’m still so very lacking. I know that my fans love me…! So please vote based on talent and skill alone. I was really surprised to see my name there.. It’s not my time yet… won’t be for a long time”.
Zico’s request to fans to vote based upon talent not popularity showed fans his modest and fair nature. Many were impressed and remarked that, Zico was truly fit for the role and as a leader, and that he had a lot of potential as a rapper and lyricist.
Zico has finished composing Block B’s album, and the group is set to comeback on Febuary 2, 2012.

As the year ends various TV networks are broadcasting their end of the year shows, with performances from groups who have made an impact in the Kpop industry. With rookie groups such as B1A4 and Boyfriend performing many wondered why Block B was not in attendance. Despite being second in the fancafe rankings for the 2011 rookie groups on Daum, the boys were not able to secure a spot on the year-end shows.
Block B’s sub-vocal Jaehyo,addressed the insecurity felt by the fans with his own disappointment. He tweeted, “I’m just going to close my eyes and cover my ears and not see or hear anything. I hope next year will belong to Block B! See you at Lotte World soon~~`”
He then proceeded to tweet, “I’m really sorry that we couldn’t be on TV over the year-end. Our fans are truly the best, and it’s because we’re lacking that this is happening. I’m sorry. Next year, we’ll work harder so that you can see us on TV at the year-end!”
With the new year a day away, it is in the fans wishes that Block B gains the attention in the kpop industry and rises to popularity . Block B’s album is set to come out in January or Feburary according to leader Zico. Let’s hope the group finds success in the future.

Ahn Jaehyo was born in Busan on December 23 1990. He has an older brother and is the youngest member of his family. He was famous ullzzang before he became the sub-vocal of Block B. Jaehyo is known to be close with many idols, because he spent time as a trainee at LOEN, DSP, Cube, J. Tune, and finally BNS.
It is known that while training for Beast, Jaehyo seriously hurt his knee, and had to quit in order to get surgery. However with support from Lee Joon of Mblaq, Jaehyo didn’t give up and secured himself a spot on Block B. Jaehyo is seen as a “positive person” by Block B. His catchphrase for himself is “like a tree I want to be strong and always stand in the same place showing the same me”.
